Hi, I'm Amber! Thanks for stopping by Apples to Applique!

Why "Apples to Applique"?

As I started my blog, I knew I would primarily be posting about education, cooking, and crafts--especially sewing. I wanted a name that would somehow convey all of that, yet still be short and snappy. "Amber's Recipes, Craft Tutorials, and Educational Resources" may be more self-explanatory, but it just doesn't have quite the ring to it that I wanted. ;)

I started brainstorming, listing words associated with sewing, cooking, and teaching. This whole process took much longer than I anticipated, and actually delayed the starting of my blog for a while. I wanted to have exactly the right name.

It dawned on me that people have long associated apples with teachers, and, as apples are also a food, it could work for the cooking aspect, as well. Suddenly the sewing term "applique" (pronounced app-li-KAY) sprang to mind. I loved the alliteration and consonance of the two words together.

Voila! Apples to Applique was born! At last I had my short, snappy name that embodied what my blog was about.

Who I Am

I am a follower of Jesus, as well as a wife, mom, and teacher who loves all things DIY. I started this blog as a way to share my passions: teaching, cooking, and crafting in all its forms--sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. Most of my posts are DIY projects and recipes, but you never know what else might strike my fancy.

I am married to my best friend and high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful daughters. They amaze me every day!

I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education unified with Special Education and a master's degree in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction.
I absolutely love teaching! It is truly my passion and calling.

Thanks for reading and following along!
